Well, what a week. Some truly inspirational work has taken place. The concert has been the focus of our work, and was one of the best. It was a very proud moment to hear all the high quality music, and witness over 200 musicians perform. The day ran like clockwork and all students were well behaved. The success was all due to the fantastic team that work in the Music Department. Everyone pulling together, supporting each other, looking out for each other. We have received many emails about the concert, on display in the kitchen. Have a read. Thank you to one and all.
The National Music Plan was also finally published on Friday. The what? The government's plan for music following the Henley review. Important. Why? It will affect each and every one of us for years to come. We all have to take note of it, as our future employment will depend on it. Hubs, Music Services having to bid to run the hubs, partnerships, working together. Reduced funding - we all have to be involved in the plan. I will publish more details in due course, but a link below will take you to a blog summarising the main details.
http://t.co/BG80bSA9. I urge you to read. The main plan is 55 pages long.... there is however much to celebrate with it.
This week - Rock School exams. Next week, Trinity exams, the rock gig, a clarinet evening. Year 11 Mocks start this week. Talk to Year 11 about it this week please. Assume nothing. If in doubt, miss them out and start again in January, setting work for the holidays.
I am catching up with those Year 11 GCSE Musicians who have not recorded any performances. They will be given times for during the mocks.
Anyway, we have a fantastic music department and should not forget that. Enjoy the week!
