Hello. Autumn is here!!
Week 3 for instrumental lessons this week. All students should be on this lesson as I know most Year 11 lesson were moved if they were on the field trip.
Open Evenings are next week, with an inset day on Thursday. It is a very important event for the school. As part of this, there has been much work on the website. The nature of it is developing, and it is more of a scrolling showcase for the many many fantastic things that happen in school. I have been told that there is so much also going on in music, and little makes it to the website. True. Quite simply, we do not celebrate enough what goes on in the department. Small things, the little success, the huge achievement.
Everyone can create posts of the fantastic rehearsals, great recording, brilliant success. It is accessed from the front page when you log in - I can show you. I do need to ensure that as a department we are working with the wider school more, rather than an isolated unit. Everyone in the department has their part to play in this! Yes, it will involve using technology more, but that is what we have to do as teachers! So, to start with, email me with the success, think of a blog post that can go on the website. Music is the lifeblood of the school, and we now have to show this.
Timetables. Thanks to those who complete their own timetables. If you don't do your own timetable, now is the time you must please. Quite simply, Sue is spending too much time working on these. We have a two-tier system. Those who do and those who do not. Sue or I can help, but they are your responsibility. We have supported new staff, fine. However, if you have been with us a while, it is up to you. Sorry! Part of the job.
The events, calendar and disruption at the top (or linked here) has all the agreed dates for the year so far, as requested at the team meetings at the start of term. Do please have a look. I am also publishing these to parents this week. They are also on the public calendar on the right of this blog.
Take Note have a trip to see the musical 'Matilda' on 27th November. Tickets, including coach, are £55. See Sue if interested.
Trinity letters are now available for exams this term. Return by 12th October and also please complete the correct exam entries for linked at the top of the page.
Have a great week and keep making music!
Mark
