Music Notes - Sunday 10th July

Last Tuesday saw an unbelievable concert at the Civic Hall in Broxbourne. It was a triumph in every respect and was an event that was credit to everyone who works in the Music Department. With primary students joining us as well, the atmosphere was wonderful. I know I have already emailed about it, but again well done to everyone. The support that is provided to the musicians is inspiring.

Thursday and Friday were the Trinity Guildhall exams, and 41 students have all passed. 2 clarinet grade 8 distinctions, many other distinctions and merits. We had a very experienced examiner and she was very pleased with what she heard. Well done to everyone for the results and support shown to the musicians. To have so many excellent results in one session is more than most schools can get in a year! This week Jazz and Diplomas, next week AB.

We also have a singing evening this coming week on Tuesday, featuring Debbie's students from Year 7 to 13. Do pop in if you can. The piano evening a couple of weeks ago was wonderful. Today we have had a senior woodwind concert, showcasing the grade 8 and diploma students. More examples of how we all go the extra mile to showcase our musicians and enable them to perform.

The Rock gig on Thursday was amazing. So many people, especially Year 9s were there and there was a real vibe in the corn exchange! Thanks so much to Keeling and Richard who ran the event and to Will for all he has achieved during his time developing the Rock School. A key part of what we do.

As we move to the last days of the term, I have now issued most of what I think are the student lists for next year. Do please check through them (they are in the trays). There are a couple of others coming through, mainly 6th form. Speaking of 6th form, 12 attended the Music Tech taster lesson and 10 for music.

Other information - Sports afternoon on the last Wednesday (I don't think many are in), and there are a few other things happening. It is up to the students to tell you. Where they are all day things, students are usually allowed to come to lessons. Car Parking - please keep out of the visitors spaces (marked with a V), and if all others have gone, only use the spaces next to the minibuses. Natalie joins us on Monday for her induction as well - she has a full programme of stuff!

Thank you once again for the many successes that we have, day after day. It is always worth it!
