Music News for the 14th January 2013

Hello!

Snow is forecast this week. Things run as normal unless I ring you early in the morning.....

As mentioned last week, I have been looking at communication, between ourselves and with parents. I have also spoken to a few about it. As things develop:

  • Registers are now to be kept in the music office, just behind the door. There is a ring binder that has plastic wallets. Registers and any messages must go in there please. Then, we can better support absences, remind students of lesson more and generally support you more. If your register is not yet in the folder, please put in there at the end of each day (even if in more than one day a week). Trays in the kitchen are still for your stuff.
  • A letter (on paper....) is available to be given to students in ensembles this week regarding the Spring Concert in March. We are providing loads of notice, so please speak to them about the concert and that they will attend the daytime rehearsals. No excuses. Please had this out.
  • A calendar of events with all dates for the rest of the year is going to parents on paper with the invoices on Monday.
  • We have a new weekly calendar, with rehearsals and dates. It is on display in the corridor (with posters), kitchen and office. If you have a change or addition for the next week, please let Sue know by 9am each Friday.
More to come. Nothing radical, but not all emails are read!

Also:
  • Trinity and Rock School exam entries for this term are being done. The online form is accessed above here, and letters are to be given out please.
  • Sue is not in on Thursday or Friday. You will have to find any students who are late, or grab someone from a class.
  • Many in Years 12 and 13 are only in for lessons. As mentioned before, assume nothing and arrange lessons with them week by week until the end of January. 'Do you have an exam next Thursday morning' etc etc. 'Check your diary/timetable'. Sounds obvious I know, but it is not obvious.
Many thanks for all your work.

Mark
