I start with a quote.
"Dear Mr Taylor
After 12 years of being parents of Simon Balle pupils, it's about time we said thankyou to the Music Department for the absolutely amazing work you do. Over the years we have seen the Department continuously raising standards, always finding new ways of using the available talent, and managing to include so many pupils; we knew it would be well worth the trip to Luxembourg to see the concert there and were not disappointed !
Vicki and Lucy have gained so much by being involved in the Department, giving them a focus and something to carry with them into the rest of their lives.
Thankyou
Bob and Clare Smith
PS Lucy moaned for most of our holiday in the Lake District too, but insisted she was enjoying herself..."
To me, this almost sums up why we do what we do.
Fantastic!
Thank you to everyone for your contribution to the inset day on Friday - the discussions, the suggestions. Your thoughts. Feedback is coming in and I will digest and move forward with the suggestions in the coming days and weeks.
Some are starting teaching this week, but most from Monday 12th. Sue is available later this week to help with timetables, when she has SIMS working again! If you are teaching this week, please leave Year 7, and allow them to have a week to settle in.
Your team leaders are your first port of call with queries and support. You are most welcome to come and chat to, shout at me, but your team leader should be first! I will be meeting with them every 2 weeks to discuss progress and all the other issues and successes. We will also be discussing the feedback from inset and the many suggestions for helping the department move forward.
I hear that the National Music Plan is delayed and will not now start until September 2012. We shall have to wait to see how this will affect us.
Finally, take a moment to look at the pages listed above. All the information needed. Suggest if something should be added. The absence form, now online, is on the right here. You can complete it during the lesson that is being missed to save time!
