A fantastic concert last Wednesday and a great celebration of all that is great in our music department. The day passed smoothly, and the performance standard was beyond expectations. We have received so many emails about how high the audience were when they left. The 'Funky Strings morning the day before was equally good and the young musicians loved it.
Thank you and well done to all involved. One of the best, the smoothest and the happiest! It is what we do well. It is a challenge to ensure that parents do not take it and us for granted.
The A2 recitals on friday also went very well and Huw the examiner said he was very pleased. Thanks again to all who supported the musicians.
This week continues to be busy.
- Trinity exams on Wednesday and Friday
- Rock gig on Thursday
- Africa day for Year 7 on Thursday (we will remind students of lessons)
The annual cycle has moved on to budgets and planning for next year. I am meeting with some to discuss ideas - if you have any ideas to help the department move forward, you must let me know! It is part of our continual improvement that we evolve as a department, to stop us standing still or falling behind. When I have a moment, I will talk about the recent Ofsted report on music, something that will affect us all.
Year 11 GCSE - the immediate priority for some. Danny, Natalie and I are now chasing up our team of students to ensure that all work is completed. All recordings should have been made. If you know it is outstanding, it must be done this week please.
Last day of term - we are here until 1.20pm (period 1 - 4).
Thank you for all your continued hard work. What we achieve, day after day, is amazing. Hard work, but amazing. Hardly any other state school can match us.
Enjoy the week
