Music News for Monday 24th June
Hello!
Thank you to everyone for completing reports on time for Yrs 7 and 8. The remaining ones by next weekend please.
The concert is just over a week away. Daytime rehearsal details have been circulated separately. Let me know if you have not received them. Details will be posted in the kitchen and music office as well.
More instrumental exams are looming (Rock School seemed to go well last week). Please see me if you have a concern about a student not working enough (see me this week).
Do please check the dates below - I asked Sue to do a comprehensive list for the rest of the term.....

Music News for Monday 10th June
Hello!
Mainly reminders and messages this week, so everyone is in the loop.
Dates
Also, this coming week, Yr 12 are out on work experience, therefore lessons are carried forward and not counted as absent.
The 4:1 split now starts again on Monday 1st July. This is due to Year 10 exams during the week of Monday 24th June. They will be on study leave, and only come in for exams. So, just as with other year groups, please arrange the lessons around this. A copy of the timetable is in the kitchen and music office.
A Yr 10 event on 8th July and Yr 8 event on 3rd July will not involve any action, apart from students being reminded to come to lessons!
If you need to change a day, or cannot come in one week, please speak to me first to let me know. Tis only polite!
Student absences for each day are now displayed in the office and kitchen, by 9.30am M, W F and 11am other days. This is so you do not have to waste time by asking Sue. It lists students who were not marked as present in morning registration.
Reports - a reminder of the deadline - Years 7 and 8: Thursday 20th June. All other reports - Friday 28th June. See the email sent out about what to write.
Finally, if you need reminders, calls to be made for students in Yrs 11 - 13 about coming to lessons, please get Sue to do this. At no point should the absence be left. It covers our backs!
Sorry there are so many dates and reminders. This time of year is never quiet!

Music News for 13th May
Hello
It is now exam time, so a full reminder of procedures from this Monday.
It is now exam time, so a full reminder of procedures from this Monday.
- 3:2 split. If you are at all unsure of times, please ask me.
- Each week, remind students in Yrs 11 - 13 about their lessons and check they can attend the next lesson. It is up to them to tell you when they have exams, but do also prompt the conversation. Ask Sue to email home with any changes.
- All years from 11 - 13 have exams from this week. None have registrations as a result.
Simple consideration will enable lessons to continue smoothly. Unlike many schools, we do not simply stop lessons for these students, so I ask that everyone responds to this.
Also:
- Interviews for Natalie's job are on Monday.
- The AS listening exam is on Monday morning. GCSE listening on Friday 24th.
- Exam entries should have been put on the forms, linked above. Sue has had issues where some in the team have not listed the entries, or responded to email reminders. Please - this does make us look silly when we have to ask parents for payment after the closing date.
- Year 7 are in Osmington Bay this week - no lessons. They must be carried forward.
It will be a busy time for students for the next few weeks, so please do remind them of the basics about checking times etc.
Have a great week

Last night, we had the very successful Wind Concert. Fantastic standard, over 100 musicians performing and some very positive comments from the audience. Thanks to Katherine for playing, and Keith, Al and of course Clare for leading the ensembles. A great evening.
The AS Music recitals seemed to go very well last Wednesday. Thanks to everyone who prepared students.

Most students are now on the final push towards GCSE and A level. You must please remind them of their next lesson, and check they can attend. You know who to focus on, so please leave nothing to chance.
I am aware that we have not written reports yet this year. More details, following discussions, will follow next week. They will have to be written, but I am finalising the timing for this term.
Have a great week.

Music News for Monday 22nd April
Hello everyone and welcome back. Busy times already.
The concert at the end of last term was a total triumph, and when I have some pictures I will rave more about it. Needless to say, we have had many emails and letters about the quality. Thank you so much to everyone who was involved.
Lessons have started again quickly this term. Thanks again for the timetables and time spent preparing.
Child protection training. Please everyone pass Sue a copy of your most recent training certificate - this week. If it is out of date, or nearly, it will require renewing. This is most important and something that cannot be overlooked I am afraid. Sorry to be a nag, but we cannot be caught out here!!
Instrumental exams. Here is the info:

TIMETABLING ISSUES

Years 11, 12 and 13 are all here for the next few weeks. Exams, especially practical, are now starting. It is up to the student to inform you of any disruption they will have. Please do prompt them with the question 'Is everything OK for next week' or something like that, so they think and do not leave it until the actual day!
Year 11 GCSE - if you have had students recorded and have not given me a copy of the music, could you pass to me this week. It is really urgent now!
There will be some inset this term. Dates to follow. I will try to aim for a quiet week (if such a thing exists!).
Thank you to everyone for your hard work. We are already planning for next year, so do pass me any ideas and thoughts.
Have a great week.
